2006 R Wines Strong Arms Shiraz $8.99 (Wine Advocate 91 points)
The 2006 Shiraz is composed of 46% McLaren Vale, 44% Riverland, and 10% Barossa Valley fruit. It was aged in seasoned French and American oak for 12 months. Opaque purple-colored, it has a nose of cedar, spice box, and blueberry. Fruit-driven, supple-textured, rich, and easygoing, the wine has remarkable class for its giveaway price. It actually has 2-3 years of aging potential but no one that I know is going to defer their gratification.

The 2004 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a refined and complex wine that combines subtlety and depth. It has a dark ruby color with a deep red edge and displays aromas of fresh blackberries, violets, cola, nutmeg and licorice. In the mouth, the wine has a juicy attack and offers great expression of fruit and spice on the mid-palate. Its fruit-driven finish is long and elegant. Properly cellared, this wine should give drinking pleasure through 2023. |

2006 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon $59.99
Aromas of sweet bing cherry and ripe, lush plum. The opulent sweetness of peak-season, fully-ripe fruit brings about abundant yet soft tannins. The core of this wine is a silky and amiably rich, textured base, with a pure Napa Valley cabernet focus. Flavors of cocoa, currant and sweet tobacco. This rich and chalky wine, devoid of assertive astringencies, drinks well now and should endure for a decade or more.
