2014 Carlisle Winery Zinfandel Carlisle Vineyard $44.99 (Wine Advocate 92-94 points)
Iíll just briefly summarize the 2014s. It was the earliest vintage ever for Mike Officer and probably heíll beat that early harvest record in 2015. In this case, he was finished by October 6, which was a first, and it will be interesting to see if he eclipses that in 2015, which was looking even earlier. The production levels were relatively abundant for Mike Officer and the wines fruit-forward, although softer and less reserved than some of the 2013s. While not quite as opaque in color, they are loaded with fruit, supple and luscious. The only white wine, the GrŁner Veltliner Steiner Vineyard, makes an appearance in 2014, and itís another beauty Ė itís crisp and the only wine in bottle. The other wines all stood out and will, no doubt, merit outstanding ratings across the board for their intensity, richness, and full-bodied power. If you already know what Mike Officer does, and the style of his wines, you wonít be disappointed in his 2014s. You may even like them as much as any vintage, given the fact that this year shows a lot of up-front fruit and charm.

2013 Castello Dei Rampolla Chianti Classico $28.99 (Wine Spectator 93 points)
A rich core of cherry, black currant and violet sits apart from the granular tannins in this sinewy red. Has everything in the right proportions, so give this a year or so to integrate more fully. Best from 2018 through 2024. 2,916 cases made.

2005 La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 904 $44.99 (Wine Advocate 96 points)
The 2005 Gran Reserva 904 is a superb blend of Tempranillo from the villages of BriŮas, Labastida and Villalba with 10% Graciano from Briones and Rodezno. The nose is very balsamic with notes of camphor, hints of mint, leather and hung game wrapped around a core of cherries in liqueur. Together it is balanced, subtle, truly elegant and classical. The palate is only medium-bodied but with great concentration of flavors that are very tasty, mineral, almost salty and framed by ultra-fine tannins and smashing balance. A great classic. This wine will be released in October 2015, a full ten years after the vintage. At this quality level this is a bargain.

2015 Jean Marc Brocard Chablis Ste. Claire $19.99 (Wine Spectator 90 points)
A rich take on Chablis, yet with a salty tang to the apple, melon, yellow plum and lemon flavors. The chalky, minerally finish adds a sense of place. Drink now through 2020. 50,000 cases made.
